Gethsemane: ‘Abba, Father! If… and But…’

Gethsemane: "Abba! Father!  "If".....and....."but"... (Mark 14:36)
		The cry of soul-filled love
		and cry of terror sorrowed down
		to death,-
		Two cries,
		contrary
		yet not: 
		of near despair,
		complete abandoning 
		by One of One,
		by One to One
		a trusting terror fills him to the core,
		his core of holiness
		now core of sin experienced.

Abba!  How you care, how you 
		love
		this dearest loved of yours,-
		now us your dearest loved in Him, 
		each one a 'first-born' one to you!
Abba!  Thank you without words
		for what Word can adequately say
		'Thanks!'?

"Abba! Father !  If..."
		and love's reply is
		Yes
		to You, to death,
		to us, to life.

Abba!  "How can we repay...?"
		The chalice, bitter joy, of 
		Salvation 
		we will raise, will drink, 
		with Him, to You.
