“Something is not enough”
of me
for Him
who asks not less than
every thing.
Something I gladly give, and
something I hold behind my back,
un-giving of my all,
my everything.
He is a jealous God who has already given
his all to me,-
what’s dearest nearest to his soul,-
His Son !
Not less than everything of Him
is always given:
he waits, he waits
until
there’s nothing that I take away
from giving all
to Him.
‘Something’, he tells me deep within,-
‘Something
is not enough,
for Me.
(reflecting on a phrase heard at Good Shepherd Church, Monkstown, on Sunday April 9th, at service conducted by Rev. Geoff Withers)
—————————-
“Something is Not Enough”
for Him who gave his all,
his everything,
his Son to us,
and who awaits our hearts that give
love in return for love.
Something is not enough
of me,
nor was it ever enough
of him.
He is a jealous God, and jealous lover,
who is all, in all.
Something
is never enough, for Him, for us.
